MPR Associates, Inc., has promoted Pete Carlone to Vice President.
Effective January 1, 2025, Mr. Carlone will assume the role of Vice President leading MPR’s business supporting the US operating nuclear power plant industry. In this role, he will be responsible for MPR partnering with clients to deliver the services and solutions that maintain and enhance the performance of the US nuclear power plant operating fleet in delivering vitally needed dispatchable carbon-free power. He will oversee MPR’s business strategy and its implementation, client engagement, project delivery, product excellence, and ensuring clients capture the value they expect from MPR.
"We have watched Pete’s leadership grow over the years, not only inside MPR, but importantly, in the nuclear industry as clients, partners, and stakeholders have increasingly sought out Pete and his team to influence their business success,” Bob Coward, MPR Principal Officer said. “Pete’s deep understanding of client needs and business-drivers, nuclear power plant design, operation, and licensing, and insight on how to connect them provide outsized client impact and value, and further strengthen MPR – important objectives as we pursue the critical societal efforts to decarbonize the energy landscape.”
Mr. Carlone’s impact can be seen across the nuclear power industry for both domestic and international clients. Leveraging his leadership and technical expertise he has supported virtually the entire US nuclear power plant fleet on complex technical, operational, and regulatory challenges, engaging with all levels of client organizations from system engineers responsible for equipment performance to Chief Nuclear Officers responsible for strategy and fleet performance. His work has provided direct benefits of reducing overall client costs, enhancing plant performance, capturing operational opportunity, and preserving regulatory margin, as well as indirect benefits of strengthening the development and performance of client personnel and teams. Mr. Carlone has served on key industry working groups, including INPO, and NEI leadership committees. His focus on utility-supplier collaboration has been a strong asset in his industry-wide leadership roles, benefiting all industry stakeholders throughout his career.
As an industry leader and subject matter expert in strategic programs and performance improvement, Mr. Carlone has most recently led strategic initiatives to improve equipment reliability, optimize capital planning, and successfully implement power uprates. As he shifts into this larger leadership role, he stated “I’m excited at the opportunity to lead the MPR team enabling nuclear energy to fill critical and unique roles in the changing energy landscape. I appreciate the trust MPR and our clients have in me to take on these important challenges.”
Mr. Carlone began his career at MPR in 1997 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University.
